On December 2, 2025, Rhode Island FC midfielder Joe Brito officially announced his retirement from professional soccer. Brito was the 8th player ever signed by RIFC during their innagural 2025 season, and he played a key part in the midfield rotation over his two seasons with the club.

Brito made 54 appearances for RIFC, scoring 4 goals and 4 assists and become the first RIFC player to earn USL Championship Goal of the Week honors in May of 2025.
