On September 9, 2025, 23-year-old defender Hamady Diop joined Rhode Island FC on a multi-year deal.

Diop, a Dakar, Senegal native, began his professional career in 2023 after being selected first overall in the MLS SuperDraft by Charlotte FC following a decorated three-year collegiate career at Clemson University, where he started 40 of 42 appearances and was instrumental in the Tigers' 2021 NCAA National Championship victory. After splitting 15 appearances between Charlotte FC's first team and reserve squad Crown Legacy FC over two seasons, he briefly joined Serbian SuperLiga club Čukarički in mid-2024 before being selected by San Diego FC in the 2025 MLS Expansion Draft, where he made eight appearances and helped the new franchise achieve a historic start as an expansion team.
