After joining the club on a 25-day contract, on May 1, 2025 Rhode Island FC announced the signing of defender Rio Hope-Gund to a first team contract for the remainder of the 2025 USL Championship season. Rio appeared in 2 matches for RIFC on the 25-day trial, playing 45 minutes against Detroit City FC and the full 90 minutes against Westchester SC.
