On April 4, 2025, Rhode Island FC announced the signing of defender Rio Hope-Gund to a 25-day contract. Hope-Gund spend his college career at Georgetown, where he was a member of their 2019 National Championship team. Rio has spent time professionally with Loudoun United FC in the USL Championship, as well as various loan stints with DC United and New York City FC in MLS.
