Four days before the start of the 2024 USC Championship season, Nathan Messer joined Rhode Island FC as the club's 22nd signing for their inaugural campaign. Messer notched over 1,200 minutes for the Providence College friars in 2023 after spending four years at William & Mary and time with USL League Two clubs Northern Virginia FC and Vermont Green FC.
