On July 27, 2026 Rhode Island FC announced that it has loaned midfielder Clay Holstad to Major League Soccer club FCDallas for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Holstad signed with RIFC ahead of its inaugural season, playing a crucial role in leading the club to back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals. The midfielder has played all but five games in RIFC's history, and ranks second all-time with 96 appearances for the club.

Holstad is the first player in Rhode Island FC history to get a transfer or loan opportunity with an MLS club.
