On a cold, rainy April night, Rhode Island FC traveled to Lewiston, ME and defeated Portland Hearts of Pine 2-1 in the third round of the 2025 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, earning RIFC the first US Open Cup victory in club history. Rhode Island took a 2-0 lead into halftime on goals by Clay Holstad and Frank Nodarse, and held on for the 2-1 finish and advancement into round 4.
